Nothing can be more spontaneously beautiful than the pictures of an angel like this waking up to a fine morning. And so I thought of gearing up and waking ahead of Chelsey just to make sure I can catch her at those right moments. The next few pictures are a result of my own patience, and her own naturally endearing charm. She must have had a beautiful dream from the Lord over the night for her to wake up like this.
And then the mysterious tumbling-and-turning-around… Chelsey is now lying on her other side.
A year and a month ago, we uploaded Chelsey’s first recorded attempt at talking and singing. Back then, they were just short stabs of syllables and a few distinguishable notes.
Today, just this morning, I was able to recorded the video that you are about to see and hear. Warning: go easy on getting excited and endeared by what you are about to see. It can be very, very, very… ADORABLE.
I just want to share to you how far my daughter has progressed, most of which I actually missed as they happened in the 65 days that I was abroad.
Chelsey can now recognize specific commands and clearly respond to them like a normal kid would. She now knows how to say “opo,” respond with a “keep quiet” gesture when told to be so, do flying kisses and beautiful eyes, open and close the faucet, unlock my iPad with swiping gestures, and pick objects and return them where she got them or bring them to me or my wife.
She actually knows her first name (her gibberish for her name is Sheshey) , and can now at least pronounce the last two syllables of her surname. When asked what sounds a dog and a cat make, she can do “bowow” and “meon.” She knows how to kiss as a response to a command, do “mano po” when commanded by elders, and when no one actually takes notice of her, she joins our choir when singing.
Most importantly, she knows know how to clasp her hands together when praying, and end it with a gibberish version of “amen.”
In the words of the millionaire Survivor Betong, “amazing!”
