Allow me first to say “thank you” for clicking on this page of my blog. It means you’re interested at what I’ve to say to you. This won’t be long, so please take time to read on until the end of this post.

Nine years ago, my life took a different turn–a turn that I will never, ever forget.

It was in Angeles City, Pampanga. I was just about to enter college, and I was attending our church’s youth camp. Our senior Pastor came the first night of the camp to preach a message of salvation from God’s word.

I thought I was about to hear the same gospel preaching like the ones I’ve heard so many times over and over all my life. My mind was just about ready to wander away to some other thoughts for the week, and forget about that message being given that night.

But there was something different from that message that night.

For the very first time in my life, I found myself wondering, doubting, if at all I was saved: if at all I knew and was sure that my soul, if ever I died that night, would go to heaven. For the first time in my life, I was thrown into an unknown dark space of my mind, trying to convince myself that this cannot be this way.

But it was, and I was soon arriving at the scary conclusion of it all: that I did not know where my soul will go if ever I died that night.

After 7 pleadings from the pastor, I finally went forward to receive Christ as our Savior. We were 88 that night.

For the first time in my life, I realized four important truths. First, I am a sinner. There’s no doubt about that: everybody knows he or she is a sinner. I also realized that I have to pay for my sins by death. The Bible showed me that the wages of sin is death, and that my soul is in danger of suffering forever. While I was trying to save myself, I soon found out that I could never save myself. I needed Christ as my Savior.

The next thing I did was to repent of my sins before God and asked Him to forgive me of my sins. And that day, through a sinner’s prayer, I put my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Savior!

From that day on, there was no turning back. I rose up from the altar of the place a changed man: a new creature. I have been forgiven my sins, and have been given the gift of eternal life. I can now claim the promise of one day seeing God in heaven, because I have been forgiven of all of my sins, and I am now living by faith as a child of God.

I don’t believe in accidents. The fact that you have reached this far in your reading only means this: God wants you to experience the same experience that I did. Salvation!

If you would like to be saved all you need to do is to repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If that’s what you want right now, you can follow this simple prayer:

“Dear God, I realized I am a sinner. And today I repent of my sins. Please forgive me of my sins, dear God. Today, I trust Jesus and accept Him as my personal Lord and Savior. That you for your love for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

I was able to apply this verse this week when I obeyed my mom as she has assigned me to buy food for our breakfast. ‘Though I’m still very sleepy, and found it hard to get up, i would stretch my body to “shake” off my sleepiness. I realized that I’m not only obeying my mom, but the early morning walks afford me to inhale fresher air (lesser vehicles),so it’s really good for me and my weak lungs!:)

Proverbs 1:10 “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

As Christians, we should not “go with the flow,” or as preachers say, we shouldn’t be like dead fish, but as ones which “swim against the tide.” We can always say, “no,” esp. if we know that what we are asked to do would clearly be against what the Bible says. Pastor Abante said that we should not even blame the devil or those who try to influence us, because it is our own choice to compromise or to stay away from bad company. Also, unbelievers may seem to have the “advantage” over us to do anything they like anytime they want to, without any fear at all, but we should never be envious of them. As salt and lights of the world, we are to influence them and not the other way around. We can do this not just by our “talk, but more so with our walk.” If our lives reflect Christ, who knows? Those who may be watching us or have evil plans against us could get saved!

    Proverbs 1:10

We, Christians, should not be influenced by sinners, instead, we should influence them. We should set a good example so that they will know what is the right way. When unbelievers are trying to let us do something that is bad, we should refrain from doing it. Even though you think it’s “cool”, we should be eccentric. We should not follow trends or “go with the flow”. We, Christians, are obliged to win souls. Sometimes, sinners can get saved through our actions so we really have to be careful with them. Our actions should let others see that Christ is in us. We might be the “walking Bible” of some unbelievers.

It was Saturday afternoon when my mom asked me to help her with our laundry. She had a lot of things to do that time. So she was really tired. I was also tired that time because of the sleepless nights that I had. Despite my weariness, I still obeyed my mom. Because I helped her, she thanked me. Her appreciation lessened my exhaustion. It made me feel great as if I did not feel tired anymore.

My tita and I dont really get along too well..because of some reasons in the past that affected me until last week. We argued last week and my mom called in the house from Palawan. My mom was worried about me and she told me to be more patient to my tita and be more nice to her even though she is hard to deal with because she is a “Matandang dalaga.”
So I prayed to God to help me to have more patience and help me to understand my tita.
I obeyed my mom like what she told me to do and thank God it was really a miracle that tita and I got along so well that we had fun and bonded.

    Proverbs 1:10
“My son,if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

As Children of God, we should not follow the way of the world and go with the flow, but instead we should lead them to our God, and be a “Living Testimony and Living Bible” to them. When they are trying to lure us we should not follow and be tempted, because if we are enticed by the sinners our path will be darkened and lost. We, Christians know what is right from wrong, we should do what is right, and not what is wrong even though for the world it is “Cool or Awesome.”
We should stand for what is right in the eyes of the Lord and not in the eyes of the wicked world. Time is precious and gold…we should not waste time that our Beloved God has given us. Be a good example, tell them about the Lord and the Word of God so that they maybe saved.

Proverbs 1:10- “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

My explanation- As always, peer pressure is hard to overcome, but ofcourse, with God’s help, you may stick to what is right. Whatever people say, do not give in to wrong doings. Always walk in the right path and surely, God will reward you for doing so.

    Application of Proverbs 1:8:
    1. I will be more attentive.
    2. I will obey to my parents.
    3. I will listen and apply them in my life.

-Somehow, I was able to apply this by controlling myself from being too hard-headed and hot-headed. Most of the time, I don’t want my actions to be corrected, but praying to God for me to be more patient and submissive made a difference in a way that I was able to control myself compared to the way I acted before.

  11. I. Application of Proverbs 1:8

    July 24, 2009. Friday.
It has only been a few weeks since school started, and yet PACE & Lecture requirements are being handed to me left and right. That Friday, I had a handful of schoolwork. After a long day in school, I decided to continue all my other requirements at home (where I am most comfortable), and so I went home. As soon as I got home, I made plans of Googling Calculus applications and typing the project. that was the plan, until I read a note. It was from my mom. Of course she didn’t mean to interfere with my schedule, but as a parent she had to fulfill her responsibility of giving responsibilities.

So after freshening up a little, I fixed and cleaned my room, arranged our DVDs, and fixed the messy papers cabinet. During the first few minutes of fixing and cleaning, i was grumbling. I wished I just never read my mom’s note. Then as I sweep the floor, I was convicted. I was acting like a fool by grumbling and unhappily carrying out my tasks. Right there and then, I humbly confessed to the LORD and asked Him to change my heart. And He did. Once my spirits were lifted, I joyfully completed my noted responsibilites.
Later that night when my parents got home, mom rewarded me with my favorite peanuts. The next day, a haircut. Is God good or what? And all I had to do was sweep the floor. :-)

  12. II. Devotion

“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”
    – Proverbs 1:10

One of the most effective tactics of the Enemy that is deteriorating the youth is PEER PRESSURE. It’s a struggle every teenager faces whether he or she is a Christian or not. It sucks, but it’s inevitable. Well maybe not 24/7, but it’s there. The saddest thing about it is that most teenagers (including myself) know the perilous consequences of giving in to peer pressure, yet they choose to trod down its steps. What could be done to prevent this? Furthermore, what can a teenager do to apply King Solomon’s words of advice?

#1: Know which side you’re on. It’s not whether God is on your side or not, it’s whether YOU’RE on God’s side or the Enemy’s. If you think God is the only one with an army, wait till you see the Devil’s. (that is, if you want to. :p)

#2: Fellowship daily with friends who are also on God’s side. “Sinners” or those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus will always be around you whether you like it or not. It is less likely that you will be influenced by them if you CHOOSE to spend more QUALITY time with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

#3: Stay attached to Jesus. He said, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” And that, my friend, is an absolute truth. Without Jesus guiding your every move, you would have difficulty saying “NO” to temptation.

  14. Part 1: Proverbs 1:8, Application

Saturday is the only day of the week in which you can loosen up and rest from the past week’s strenuous works. However, it’s also the ideal day to do loads of homeworks and projects.

One Saturday, I decided to surf the net and wait for Blessing and Jozel’s e-mails(They were my teammates in our Calculus project). Then, I will synthesize all the gathered data to arrive at the finish product.
While gathering facts about Calculus’ application in business and waiting for B&J’s e-mails, my mom entered my room. In her hand was a dock/connector and an iPod. She asked me to sync/update her iPod and tutor her how to download music. Even though I have tons of work to do, I still obeyed my mom by syncing her iPod and teaching her how to download music. And still, I finished my project before sunset.

It felt good because first, I had quality time with my mom and second, I obeyed her commands.

My reward? A 14-inch pizza. It really pays when you obey your parents!

  15. Part 2: Proverbs 1:10, Devotion

“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

Verse 10 of Proverbs 1 speaks about saying NO to the wicked pleasures our evil world offers. Even though these wicked pleasures may appear “glittery”(insert spotlight here), we should make a 180 degree turn from them because they obviously contradict what the Bible says. Walking on the paths of this world may appear trendy and beneficial, but it will only yield consequences and regrets.

Choosing your friends is one of the ways in avoiding these things. People who have friends that are unbelievers are very prone in committing sin because the people around them are literally “SINNERS.”(malamang, unbeliever nga eh)
Regular contact with them will eventually turn you into one of them.

Having a firm foundation in the Lord is another way for resisting(to do what is wrong). If you are deeply rooted in and nurtured by the Word of God, you won’t have a hard time saying NO to the things which are not right.

    A.Application of Proverbs 1:8

    1. One day, my mom was reading newspapers and asked me to get her reading glasses. Even though I’m always saying “wait” and “later”, I just did what she commanded without saying any ”buts” and she’s thankful for what I did. I was happy when I did that, my mom didn’t get angry and it’s so fulfilling to follower her without second thoughts. And I’m so happy that I obeyed my mom even at the simplest things that she asked me to do.Even if the commands are simple you can really learn from them.

    2. One rule of my Parents is to study first before watching the television. Last Monday, before I watched the television series that I want to watch I did first all my assignments before watching it. Because of this, I finished the most important goal that I need to do the next day. I’m so glad that I did follow my parents it really pays of.

Proverbs 1:10: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

    Explanation:
If someone tries to tempt you we must not fall into the temptation but we must avoid it. We should not be influenced by the sinners but we must influence them by our actions. As Christians, we should not “go with the flow”. We should always know our stand. We must always know when to say “yes” and when to say “no”. We are now in our -teen years we must know what is right from wrong. We must do what is right, stick to that which is right and we must avoid the wrong. We must also know if the Lord will be happy if we do a certain thing.

Some advices: First, choose your friends carefully. Our friends are always with us so they have a great impact in our lives. So if we choose God-fearing friends we can be sure that they will help us to be at the right path. Second, be closer to God. If you have a great connection with good it will be easy to ay “no” to temptations. Third, we must not “go with the flow”. We must have our own stand and we must always check if that stand is right.

•I will choose my friends carefully.
•I will always ask God’s guidance in making a decision
•I will try my best to do what is right.

It was kind of frustrating for me because my dad would get mad at me if I didn’t finish packing that night. Explanation of Proverbs 1:10

This verse refers to those Christians who are being pulled or judged by those “ungodly people”. The synonym verse is “Render not evil with evil but rather render evil with good”. Sometimes Christians try to seek revenge to those who pull them down, which is wrong. The situation will become worse that’s why Christians should not think of revenge. The Lord said “Vengeance is Mine”. Christians should have self control and leave the rest to the Lord. We should always remember that God is always there to protect us. But we should also know are limits and we should learn to say “NO” to temptation and not give in.

    Proverbs 1:10
” If sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

    EXPLANATION:
What is “entice”?! “Entice” means to attract by offering something pleasant. Every day, we are allured by the world with its innocent offers. These offers may not look “evil”, and we may consent of it unknowingly. But, the devil is on his desk, working silently.
We should be very careful with our decisions and actions, learn to say “No”, and not compromise just to accomodate what is ‘in’…

    Understanding of Proverbs 1:10

I have learned in this verse that as a Christian our influences in life are very critical. It teaches us to discern the right things from the wrong things. Even though our non-Christian friends may present their activities as cool, happy, fun, and “in”, we must not allow them to influence our actions and likes.

Always remember to consult God through the Bible, parents, church leaders, or Christian teachers with the things you’re planning to do or say. =)

a)Once when i was in the store, I took God’s way instead of my own way, whenever someone would try to sneak in the line in front of me, because I am easily pissed off, I would always raise my voice sarcastically, say to him,”Um excuse me.I came here first.”When a grumpy young lady has done the same thing again, I was really “warm-blooded”. But when god whispered to me in my early devotion, “Jesus remained silent.”This was the response of Jesus when He was captived and being persecuted and questioned by the high priests. So, i just remained silent. After a while, taht stubborn lady was buying something that’s already sold out from the store! I was thinking, “there you have it, impatient one…”

In order to please God,and to obtain wisdom from him, this verse had made a good challenge in my life.By the strength that he hath given, now I learn to separate the right and wrong doings. For the past few weeks,I had some misunderstandings with my parents. That’s why it makes me feel down and be confused on what is happening at times.I felt that I can’t overcome all of those things anymore. But still by the help of God,me and my relationship with my parents are okay already.Truly,God changes everything because he has changed my life,Now I am very careful in all that I do.I am now obeying all the authorities that are over me,especially my parents. When they instructed me to do some things,I obey them even though I don’t want and it’s hard sometimes.I trust in them because they know what’s the best for me and I know that if i did this, this will gave a good advantage in my life someday in the future. As I end,I just want to thank God for everything that he had done in my life. And now,I believe that God really has a purpose in the life of everyone of us while we are still living in this world.

    DEVOTION OF PROVERBS 1:10

“My son,if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

This verse is a good example for us Christians. It makes a good challenge to all of us because it says that in everything that we do,we should be careful because anytime the devil is always watching over us,finding our weaknesses so that he can tempt us and let us follow his evil deeds rather than the good deeds.

    EXAMPLE:

A group of bad people were planning to rob the bank and they need more people that will join them. You are one of the persons that was ask to join them, and besides, you know what will they do.You know that it’s bad, but they had offered you a big amount of money if you’ll join them doing that kind of evil thing. The big amount of money sounds good, but you as a Christian having the fear of the Lord and self-control in your life. You should rather obey the instruction of God in you rather than obeying those bad people.Instead, pray for those people, that God would touch and work upon their lives.

If you think of the money,Don’t worry!Because God can give you more than what you have expected or what you want. That’s why we should always obey him and put Him first in our lives because there’s always a reward waiting for us in the end.

Now, why is it that we want to be with people who are worldly? The answer is simple. It’s because the members or the leader of the group gives us offers that sound pleasing but are nothing but bribes.
We need to be extremely careful with these people because their only purpose is to cause trouble and nothing but trouble. We never know what might happen to us if we join these people. For all we know, they might use us as a bait to get what they want and leave us with absolutely nothing.
Because God loves us, He tells/warns us not to give in to those people through nothing else but by His Word. Its very important to listen to our Heavenly Father because, He always wants whats best for us. So unless you want to end up nowhere, go ahead and join those worldly groups. Its your choice. I hope you make the right decision.

Thanks for reading, hope you learned something!

I was faced with the decision of whether I should give my life to the Lord or not. By Gods grace, i gave Him my life in the end.

The reward was that He blessed my life abundantly. I also learned that, for God to Bless you, you need to obey Him.

It means to say that if sinners, people who doesn’t know or apply Godly characters, tries to influence us with ungodly things. We should not give in to them because the Lord doesn’t want us to those things.

“It was Saturday morning when I have to go to youth choir at church. Waking up at 9am, my mom has not yet cook any food and I was in a hurry. It was almost time for me to go, but still no food is cooked. She told me stay and wait for the food and eat. So I started complaining at my mom at blame her for not cooking earlier, then I suddenly realize that what I’m doing is wrong. It is really hard for me to say sorry but I did it and stay and eat but got late at my practice.”

    a) There was a time when I didn’t seek His will even though I knew His will in my life.
I was so impatient waiting for His answers in my prayers. So, i went ahead and didn’t wait for His answer.

    b) I was frustrated, was not satisfied and I was not fulfilled. I learned that I should really wait for what i’m asking from Him.
    It really pays to wait.

Proverbs 1:10, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

We should not follow the ways of the world. Temptation, is one thing that could easily trick any one. That is why we have the Bible, for us not to lose our way. We, as Christians, should know what is right from wrong. I think that we are very blessed to have a God that loves us enough to tell us that we should not sin against Him.

    a. I will resist temptation.
    b. I will pray to God.

    Application of Proverbs 1:8

“My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:”

Okay, so this verse hit me hard. I don’t usually listen to my mom when she tries to scold me and sometimes I even get mad at her. But eversince I started reading the Bible, and my cross stitching, I have learned to become more patient. Now we don’t argue as much as we used to.

My dad, I don’t think I have ever disobeyed him. He becomes pretty scary when he gets mad. And since he works abroad, we only get to see him a few times a year. So because of that, I decided to just obey him. He has been working hard enough, why make things harder?

The main point is that, if we love our parents, we should obey and respect them.

Proverbs 1:10, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”

This speaks about temptation. How we sin. How we work. How we correspond. It tells as not to be afraid to say NO. A person has the capability of saying NO to things that would harm them. Man has the power to think and shoul posses autonomy. He or she should think twice in circumstances. Not giving – in to temptations does not mean that your less of a person. Some people, mostly teenagers are very viable to indulge in such temptations. They think that by doing it, people would be proud of them. Some people do it to have the sense of belonging. I may say that it is better to leave peacefully alone than having companions who are bad influences. Moreover, the Lord entrusted us a beautiful mind for us to use it and be responsible with our actions. It aims to do good and bot to do harm. By this, we could leave without worries and have a blessed life.
